Coalescing filters are high performance air/oil coalescing separators that will virtually eliminate all liquids and solids from a gas stream. These units produce exhaust liquid levels as low as 0.05 PPMW** and solids removal in excess of 99.99%** efficiency for particulate as small as 0.3 micron**.
The test procedure utilized for measuring the efficiency of coalescing filters should reflect actual operating conditions. Many manufacturers use a DOP or NaCl test to rate their filters, but these test procedures do not reflect the operating conditions to which all coalescing filters are subjected. These tests are performed on a dry filter, which gives no indication of how the filter will perform when it is saturated with oil.
A test procedure that more closely reflects the operating conditions for coalescing filters is ISO¬8573-2. The method demands that measurements be taken only after the filter has reached a differential pressure condition of equilibrium and processed oil is visible downstream of the filter.
**Note: These efficiencies depend upon the proper design of the filter vessel into which our elements are mounted. Improperly designed vessels or improperly sized nozzles may result in high velocity conditions, which cause re¬entrainment of coalesced oil. This re¬entrainment of oil results in a smoking condition and/or inadvertent exhausting of oil mist into the environment.
